Line Stops
GVT performs single and double line stops. A line stop is
considered a temporary service.
Line
stops will stop the flow inside an existing pipeline that is
under pressure. This is done by cutting a hole in the
pipe and inserting a device that will seal the pipe so the flow
in the line can be temporarily stopped with a stopping head.
After the work on the line is complete, the stopping head
is taken out, and a plug is put into the fitting and the hole
is
capped. If needed, future line stops can be performed with
the same fitting. A
nozzle or split tee for line stopping is welded to the existing
system.
Only a small section of line is taken out of service, so that
work can be performed without interrupting service to customers
on the line rest of the line. This is important when the customers
using the line are emergency, medical facilities, factories,
or other highly populated areas.
